Jardin des Plantes Edition

Jardin des Plantes located on the left bank of the Seine, is Paris’ most significant and sumptuous botanical garden. Planted in the mid-17th century by King Louis XIII’s personal physician, the Jardin was originally devoted to the cultivation of medicinal herbs. Later opened to the public, the Jardin remains one the world’s foremost botanical gardens—and Paris’ loveliest destinations. The garden is the inspiration and namesake for the latest edition from Edward Fields Carpet Makers. A celebration of foliage and flowers, it comprises floral elements both uniform and orderly, like vines trained on trellises and pergolas, and various and meandering, like a field of wildflowers. Jardins des Plantes includes six designs, each rendered in two colorways. Most include a frame, a design trademark of Edward Fields. The designs in the edition are made of wool and silk, hand-tufted in a low, dense pile. The palette of Jardin des Plantes includes vivid roses and bronzes as well as more understated greens and blues, set against a background of warm neutrals: taupes, greys, and tans.
