On-The-Fringe Edition

On-The-Fringe was created by Juliana Polastria and Ariana Massouh. The Edition began as an exploration of the hand-tufted craft — how to build on yesterday’s design with today’s know-how. The result is twelve geometric abstractions that create three dimensionality in an unconstrained and exaggerated way. These textiles can cover the floor as carpets and can dress the wall as tapestries. Polastri explains how "the yarns are freed to express the designs’ lines by pushing them beyond the outer boundaries." Multiple material combinations of wools, silks and lurex extend into fringes, and in other pieces, moveable threads recreate voided shapes.
